frequently asked questions

WHAT IS SOMATIC SEX EDUCATION? Combining interpersonal neurobiology, pleasure anatomy and practices to empower choice and voice, this work offers a set of tools to help people gain clarity and confidence in relational intimacy. It’s an ancient and emergent healing modality that coalesced in the queer community to support people to reclaim their bodies and their pleasure.

HOW IS IT DIFFERENT THAN TALK THERAPY? This is a somatic modality. While there’s usually both talking and embodiment practices in each session, we support the brain to slow down and shift focus towards sensation, imagery, sounds and movement. This can illuminate full body wisdom, giving clues to questions our brains have spun for years. In addition, I offer my presence as a practitioner not just as a space holder, but also as a full human who is available for role play, reflection, healing touch, co-regulation and cuddles. My ethical boundaries are in alignment with the Somatic Sex Educator’s Association, and discuss them in the first session.

WHAT DO YOU DO IN SESSIONS? Depending on the interest of the client, we utilize relational exercises, movement practices, guided visualizations, art-making, ritual co-creation, trauma-informed touch, breathwork, role play and nature connection. Each session builds on the past one, building towards the embodied intentions of the client’s goals.

WHO CAN BENEFIT? People of all genders who: - Need help prioritizing their own pleasure - Want a deeper relationship to their eroticism - Have a hard time getting out of their heads during sex - Want to build relational intimacy without “losing themselves”

HOW MUCH DO THEY COST? My current rate is $100/hour, and I recommend an eight-session series for most clients (meeting every other week is typical). Packages can be bought for a discount, payment plans are available, and sometimes I can offer sliding scale spots.

HOW DO I BEGIN? Schedule a free 30 minute call and we can discuss what you’re looking for and the intake process!
